#MTV #Made “behind the scene” #Spoiler Alert

As most of you know – I have been an anti-bully advocate ever since I starred in Michael and Marissa’s anti-bullying music video “The Same” 3 years ago. That video has appeared virtually everywhere including Yahoo!kids, PBSGoKids! and hundreds of other sites. In addition to that video – I have experienced bullying first hand and know how very painful it is. Because people know that I am an anti-bullying advocate, I am frequently asked to do speeches which – time permitting – I always jump at as I feel it is important to get the message out that bullying should not be tolerated.  People always asked if I ever get nervous when I talk to large crowds and I and the truth is – I don’t have the luxury of being nervous because my message is so important. So doing anti-bullying speeches is exactly how I ended up on a MTV Made episode. I was in New Jersey at the East Coast National Beauty Pageant over the summer and  one of the contestants (Maeve Gallagher) was being filmed for an MTV Made episode. She wanted to be made into a beauty queen in order to raise awareness on domestic violence. Maeve did a very emotional tear jerking performance for her talent portion (all contestants have a platform) which touched me in a way that is hard to describe. She had a friend Karissa who she Karissa's Army lost due to domestic violence and by entering the contest – she was raising awareness. I had a chance to meet with Maeve and discuss the subject and we really connected. MTV was stealth and I didn’t realize I was being filmed until after. I am actually really glad that it was caught on film because MTV has a large audience as well as many connections. Hopefully it will help spread the word that bullying (which goes hand in hand with domestic violence) is not in any way acceptable. We all need to do our part to stop it and standing on the sidelines is not what is going to make a difference. I hope that everyone watches this episode and understands the powerful message behind it. Click on the picture of Maeve to post a message on the “Made” Facebook page telling them that you want to see more Made episodes like this. Tell them Meredith Prunty sent you and maybe they will do an episode on me next so I can continue my anti-bully rally. Please tune into MTV Made on October 18th at PM to watch. Bring your tissues – it’s going to be emotional.

MSSAA Fall 2012 State Championship

I am so excited that my team, the varsity Hopkinton Hiller’s won a bid to Nationals being hosted by Cheersport Cheerleading and Dance competition in Atlanta, Georgia. I actually was at Cheersport last year for my All-star team Cheerfactor and can’t wait to go back. It is an amazing and incredibly exciting event with literally thousands of cheerleaders and spectators attending and this year they are expecting over 900 teams! Cheersport is run with such precision that all the hundreds of team perform on-time with every detail organized and in place. Cheersport also holds one of the quickest awards ceremony I have ever witnessed. Cheer Nation descends on Atlanta, Georgia and we sort of take over the city. Atlanta is the perfect host city with so much to offer. Hundreds of restaurants like The Hard Rock Cafe are there and the hotels really roll out the red carpet. We stayed at one of the Marriotts and the service was first class.  Last year while I was walking through the city, I even ran into a film crew on one of the side streets where they were filming  the show ”The Walking Dead”. I have been on enough sets to recognize the big equipment and know what is going on so I quietly removed myself before I ended up between the camera and actors. The CNN headquarters is also located there and if I have the time this year – I would love to have a tour of it. At the event they offer a lot of gifts and prizes and last year I was able to get a free pair of really cool SOFFE shorts signed by Mr. SOFFE himself. My team is awesome and we are really working hard to perfect our skills. Just like every other team, we are going there for one reason only – to win first place and be awarded the coveted National Championship jackets. The competition is going to be tough, but hopefully our hard work will pay off!  I am really looking forward to my trip in February and we are working tremendously hard so that we perform at our peak.  Go Lady Hillers!

I am very please to announce that I have been cast as Bella (lead) in the movie Exeter. This movie is going to be fun and very scary because it is going to be filmed on a known haunted location. I am also looking forward to working with talented actors Donna Glee Reim, Ashley Tramonte, Richard Meehan and Jimmy Folco!

The plot: “When veteran actresses Bella and Ava signed up to do background work on a movie set, they thought it would be just another routine gig. When they showed up for work and discovered the location was an old abandoned hospital with a graveyard filled with nameless victims and famous for luring ghost hunters from all over the world, the horror flick they were filming suddenly took a sinister twist”. Please check back for more details as filming commences in April.

Behind the scenes of #BULLYPROOF music video

ImageI am super excited about my latest project  – the music video “Bully Proof” for The Brand UR. As most of you know, I have been an anti-bullying advocate for almost 3 years now, having experienced bullying first hand and also in some of the roles that I have played. Yesterday we filmed  “BULLY PROOF” staring myself, Paisley Dickey, Ashley Tramonte, Ashley Jermaine, Caitlin O’Neil and a host of others. I am so proud of my peers for dedicating their time and resources to come together to make this video. I have no doubt that it will be a sensational hit. Also – the video demonstrates that bullying can happen to anyone. Regardless of how you look or how you feel, anyone can be a victim. Caitlin is Miss. Massachusetts – and she has been bullied. Ashley Tramonte is a very successful actress  – and she has been bullied. Paisley Dickey – the adorable star of Toddlers and Tiaras has been bullied by the media. Bullying can happen to anyone at anytime. We need to continue to raise awareness because bullying is everywhere. Please do your part and spread the word. Share this post, share the video when it comes out. Stop bullying when it is  happening. Together we CAN make change happen.

The Way Way Back Trailer is out and you can spot me just about everywhere in it including the picture of me with my pink and white bag (pictured below). Meredith Prunty in the Way Way Back movie (still)I spent 7 days having fun playing at the water park and on the beach – best job ever! The food was great on the set (Thanks to Mike’s caterers)  and I know the movie will be a big hit. Here is the official write-up of this movie:

“THE WAY, WAY BACK is the funny and poignant coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan’s (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin). Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in gregarious Owen (Sam Rockwell), manager of the Water Wizz water park. Through his funny, clandestine friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up to and begins to finally find his place in the world – all during a summer he will never forget.”

Since I am an anti-bullying advocate it is particularly interesting to me because Duncan is being bullied by his mother’s boyfriend. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds.

Boston Red Carpet Event "Fashion is our Sanctuary"

Photo: Brina Healy “Fashion is our Sanctuary”

Last night I went to the Red Carpet Boston event “Fashion is our Sanctuary” at the Old South Church to benefit #TheOneFund.  The fashion show (featuring Model Club models) and concert was a lot of fun and I met wonderful new singing artist Kenzie (@KenzieMusic1) who did an amazing rendition of Bruno Mars new hit “When I was your Man”. The Old South Church is an outstanding and colorful example of Northern Italian Gothic architecture. This picture was taken at the event and outside the church by famed photographer Brina Healy and you can see why she is one of the top photographers in Boston! Sponsoring the event was MCFashion, Hint, Uptempo Magazine, Popchips, Accent Limousine, Scene Magazine and Doulblecross Vodka. I love supporting great causes and it makes it even more fun when I get to attend with my friend and fellow actress Ashley Tramonte (pictured with me above). I have several more events on the radar so stay tuned for more glitz and glamour!

How punking out your #IMDb helps your #STARmeter!

Boston SAG/AFTRA Actress

Hey everyone – I though I would offer a little advise for anyone who would like to improve their IMDb STARmeter.  In addition to working on your acting, IMDb is a great tool to get you noticed.  STARmeter is compiled based on a secret algorithm but primarily it is very important to have people view and LIKE it. Here is a punch list that will help you:

1. Add any photos you have of yourself and celebrities.

2. If you have a BLOG like I do – link it.

3. Link you Twitter so your tweets appear on your IMDb.

4. Be active in the IMDb message boards

5. Have people post on your message board.

6. Get yourself added to lists. As of this post I am on 46 lists. I made one of them – the rest are from other people.

7. Ask your friends to LIKE your page

8. Use social media (Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) to draw people to your page.

9. Put interesting and diverse pictures on your profile.

10. Make sure you get credit for your movies (the better the movie does, the better your STARmeter is).

11. Be seen by the paparazzi dating a famous celebrity. If suddenly I was seen with Justin Bieber, for example, my STARmeter would instantly improve.

12. Use a traffic exchange (LIKE FOR LIKE) Karmalicity is a good one that is free. Here is the LINK http://www.karmalicity.com/?r=1521

Click on my picture above to see how I punked out my IMDb. Please LIKE while you’re there. If you have any other suggestions, just comment on this post. Thanks!! ~Mere

Meredith Prunty selected as National Spokesperson for Read-Feed-Child

I am honored to be selected as the national spokesperson for red-feed-Child.com. Here is a write-up about the organization (from their website):

The “Dreamer” who feeds the children

“Read With A Child, And Help Feed A Child”

Michael John McCann has a life long track record of community service and involvement. An entrepreneur who ran a successful commercial finance and real estate business, he was a member and former chairman of the Westborough Housing Authority. He was instrumental in creating the town’s senior center and an affordable housing development for the elderly. Now residing in Florida, Michael is the author of PURPLE UMPKIN, the first in a series of illustrated children’s books featuring the Murples.

Imagine feeding a child through a book…
This is exactly what my purpose was in writing this book. It is great to see my book in print, but what makes it special is although you will discover “PurpleUmpkin”, and our enjoyable Murple characters, you will be feeding a child. My main focus of this project is to feed underprivileged children in America. This book is allowing me to help these children and through doing so, I may help them to discover the dreams they have and allow them to come true. It is my goal to continue this passion until one day authors engage with me; together
we can have others read a book and feed a child. – Michael John McCann

We filmed a new video on Friday, August 3, 2013 to be released nationally soon. This picture is taken in the HCAM studios by Mike Torosian.

#Zombie Horror Throwback film “The Undead” is making headlines!

Hey Everyone, I am pleased to announce that my next film is “The Undead”.  This is going to be a VERY scary movie and I might even  be surrounded by Zombies :) I can’t talk too many details about my role but I will keep you posted with backstage pictures and other fun information (upon approval of the production). The Indiegogo fundraiser is doing great and the campaign is now featured on the front page – which is nothing short of AMAZING! Here is a little more about the movie – as described on their official page:

The feature film will display both Zombies similar in THE UNDEAD promo video and badly decayed ones you’ve seen on THE WALKING DEAD. The reason for this is the zombies in the beginning of the film will have just been exposed to nuclear radiants. Therefore in the beginning they’ll be brain dead individuals bleeding from their orifices(eyes, ears, nose, mouth) and progress to a more decayed state in reel time.

Therefore Zombie fans can consider this a DIARY OF DECAY.

SYNOPSIS: Two yuppies venture out to the country to explore an opportunity away from their stressful city life. After driving several hours with no communication to the civilized world they find themselves isolated in a small and abandoned rural town. After being attacked by a disfigured man the two seek refuge in a house occupied by a young women with a questionable past. It is there that they learn what has happened to the townspeople and workers of the Russeltown Nuclear Plant. They are left with no alternative but to defend themselves and fight off “THE UNDEAD.”

Click on the picture below to go to their fundraising campaign. There are all sorts of great perks for people who donate.
